The Recovery Tour was our first bus trip and started five minutes after purchasing the Ark. After seeing it on Ebay for about $6,000 we called the current seller and learned that the most recent offer for it was for $10,000 by a studio that wanted to blow it up in a glorious explosion. Luckily for us, the seller of the Ark was a veteran police officer who wanted to see the unique piece of United States Air Force memorabilia put to good use. We flew down to Orlando the next day, drove to Melbourne Beach as fast as we could, and history was made.
To say the journey back to Chicago in an unregistered, unplated, mechanically unsound military vehicle with bad tires was a learning experience is an understatement. The lack of pictures is simply because we were so damn nervous we that we would break down or die at any minute.
