Microsoft Streets & Trips is a powerful and affordable tool that we use to plan our bigger road trips. Sometimes we also use it on the road when circumstances change or problems arise, since it is compatible to use alongside most GPS devices. Aside from the hundreds of route customization features that we take advantage of, one of the nicest bits about this software is the constant interstate and state/local highway construction updates provided free from Microsoft. Most GPS devices these days have the option to purchase or receive construction and traffic updates but there are often limited to data provided about greater municipal areas. We usually aren’t travelling through cities.

At some point, Minibird Travel will expand to bus travel in Europe. When that happens, we’ll be using Microsoft AutoRoute, which is the European counterpart software to Streets & Trips. We’ve tried and tested it and route customization features perform just as well.
