In an “off year” without a big bus trip to plan or embark on, we decided to take the Ark for a local spin to Lowden State Park in Oregon, Illinois. This was only about 2 hours from its storage location at the time in Sugar Grove, Illinois so it was a night trip. We left at 9:oo PM after a heavy shopping trip at Woodman’s and returned back by noon the next day, but in that short span we managed to see the second largest concrete monolithic statue in the world.

If you ever go to Lowden State Park, don’t forget that you have to actually ford the river to get into the campground. No Kidding. Of course that’s no problem for 6 tons of Bluebird.
